Crashing while gaming

Hey guys, so my PC crashes without warning while playing certain games such as bf4, farcry 3, red faction guerilla etc...

It can either be bsod, a complete screen freeze with sound bugs and sometimes when I even close the game my PC slows down and then freezes. I have no frame drops or any kind of warning that a crash is going to happen.

My system specs:
OS: windows 7 [64 bit]
RAM: Corsair vengeance [8gb]
CPU: i5 3470
GPU: EVGA gtx 660 SC
HDD: 1TB western digital
MOBO: gigabyte h61ma-d2v

This issue has been going on for months now and its really starting to get annoying, any help would be appreciative, thanks.

Ive already installed an old nvidia driver, it didn't work so im using the newest one. Ive reinstalled all other drivers as well :[

Check event viewer for faulting modules and error codes. Then you wll be able to pin point the exact reason for system failure.

Check the temparature of gpu. remove ram and gpu and clean ,if possible

Hi I also had the issue few weeks back with AC3. And I had to format and start over again I think the problem is in drivers.

Btw remove any overclocks you have made. and try to find what fails using stress tests.

re validate game files in steam, install any required prerequisite software (c++ 2013, c++ 2010, direct x, etc.) then if none of those work, remove any overclocks, or you could up the voltage/fan speeds. did it give you an error message? if you got an error message what was it?

Yes I do not have the updated bios version, but is there any need to even update it?

most likely it will stop you from getting a BSOD.
