[Crawl] Double-vegetarian seeking survival advice

Hi again all,

I've got a pretty buff character -- the high elf crusader I mentioned in
"do-gooder elf..." -- with a wee little problem. For the first time ever, I'm
stuck with two levels of the vegetarian mutation. Now, I've cleared the Hive,
so I can hold out for quite a long time even if my bread rations run out
(I've got something like 10, and there are several food stores in this game,
none of which I've bought from yet). But as you can imagine, I'm a little
worried. Anyone here ever survived this mutation? Any tips?

It really shouldn't be that bad, unless you're casting a lot of spells or using
a lot of Invocations or something. I wouldn't worry about it until you're
actually running low on food. Do you have any potions of cure mutation?

Only ones that (without doing the math) seem likely to be down to a 0 food
cost. High Elf and all that.

Avoiding these as much as possible. I took Elyvion on a whim, and his
invocations are either nothing to write home about on the one hand or require
tons of Invocations skill (and piety) on the other (which is fair, since
their effects are useful things not even available elsewhere), so that leaves
only the occasional levitation or teleportation to bite my lip over.

Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick...

Just a couple of mutation. Can't even gamble with shapeshifter chunks,
because I can't *eat* chunks...
