[Crawl] selling something ?

Just started the game and (died alot) and asking:

what to do with the stuff someone finds and whats not used anyway. is it
possible to sell stuff ???

You can't sell stuff. Depending on your deity and what the item is, you
may be able to sacrifice it (but unless you're a follower of Nemelex Xobeh,
an altar probably won't be convenient). If you think something might be
useful at some point, stash it. Otherwise, just leave it.

That's one of my favourite features, no need to carry tons of scrap here
and there.

Given that in Angband you can only carry a small inventory and in NetHack
packratting is a (deliberate?) trap for the inexperienced player, I'm not
sure what roguelike you're comparing Crawl with here...

As you say, Angband and Nethack; no need to drag all that stuff back
to some shop for money, for example.

Of course when you fall prey to the Compulsive Sacrificing Disorder,
there's no real difference between dragging everything back to some
shop or to the Temple.

Say ToME for example. You really need money there (lot of good staff is
available to buy), so instead of playing you have to travel here and there
with junk. Small inventory is a real pain, as it doesn't stop packratting,
but just make it more annoying.

Well, dragging junk to a shop in NetHack certainly exceeds my boredom
threshold for the minimal gain, unless you're trying to price-plus-ID
armour and weapons.

Possibly.... No, didn't do that. The shop-keepers don't have much
money, either. Hmmm... Altars, that was it, not shops. Drag all that
junk to an alter to buc-ID. I knew there was some reason why I
always ran back and forth in Nethack, though I wasn't quite sure
what the cause was...
