I don't normally take the time to share my RNG suffering, but this was
too much. My brilliant spriggian stalker (picked randomly), who had
been murdering orcs, ogres, uniques, etc, left and right with poison
magic and a nice shiny new elven dagger of venom, just skipped
learning poison weapon (since I had the dagger) and got the venomous
bolt spell. Naturally I gave it a try.

16. 353 Lucas SpVM-06 killed by bad targeting (DLv 4)

This was the easiest early game I'd ever had, and the most promising
recent character. Fast, poisonous, efficient, deadly. I was
virtually untouchable by everything but myself. What the RNG giveth,
the RNG taketh away.

🙂 Evidently you miscasted the spell badly. I haven't seen any such death
so it's quite rare I guess. Better luck next time.

I had a promising Deep Elf character go up in smoke the very same way.
Such cussing, the likes of which you have never heard before...

Misspells happen, but they are not directly deadly, I suppose misspell
severity depends not only on spell type and level, but also how far away
you were from success. Personally I don't cast spells with poor success
rate. 🙂
