Not exactly "Yet Another" Victory Post, as it's my very first - yay! Not
sure if anybody will be interested, but the newgroup's been quiet for a
while, so what the heck. :) This is character #150 or so; the last 15
characters (more or less) were all fighters, as I had decided to focus on
one class for a while after a lot of experimentation with different
combos... and this one finally made it! Cleared the Mines, Halls, Lair,
Snake Pits, Swamp, Hive, Vaults, and Crypt. The biggest scare was my brief
foray into Hell; took care of Geryon with no problem and was feeling pretty
cocky. Got about 5 levels into Cocytus, and ran into two '1's, plus a couple
of random torments - just barely made it out. And when I did, I noticed my
intelligence was down to 1(!)... I didn't even notice that happen, was
probably sometime during the frantic retreat! This guy also nearly met his
end in the bottom level of the Vaults at the hands of three '1's summoned by
a Lich...

mutation from an orb of fire, just before finding the orb, before I could
get the resist mutation amulet on.

I'm itching to give another class a try, now. This must be the single most
replayable game I've ever found... great fun!

That's probably the biggest hp max I've seen in Crawl.
