Nice! Its nice to see that my GF4 Ti4200 still holds up against the newer DX9 cards.

SchweEet!

Leave it to Digit-Life, they ARE the kings of the Video Card Review IMO. And I love how it's all on one page (makes for easy surfing at work). Hard to read @ 1920 X 1440 though.

I wish they had some DX9 titles where you see strange perfomrance gains by cards like the R9600SE over cards like the GF4ti or R9100, where in some other areas it'll lose to a GF4 MX440. The only thing that alludes to that is Rightmark, which is too broad a benchie IMO.

But hey it's an awesome set of tests a little confusing with the $/ratio graph being so much larger than the FPS.

$/X will change with time, and location so I almost don't know why it's there. But it wouldn't be the first time someone has tried to figure out bang/buck (etremetech does it alot).

No DX9 tests though.

It should hold up pretty well, it's one of the best DX8 cards out there.

Nice! But there's no Radeon 9000 NP (my card). They could've just underclocked a R9000 PRO to make it a R9000 NP.

Wow, that really makes me think twice about even wanting to upgrade my Ti4400 (at Ti4600 speeds). Oh well, I do want good AA and AF performance, something my card doesn't provide; too bad no upgrade is justified...R420 better come soon!

I think I'm going to throw up.<P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1><EM>Edited by Vapor on 12/09/03 01:18 PM.</EM></FONT></P>

ROFL! It really was a challenge beating an MX card, they clearly are the best

<A HREF="http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6752830" target="_new">Yay, I Finally broke the 12k barrier!!</A>

Yeah the time to decide will be once the R42X(s) comes out. Until there's a killer DX9 game that comes out that you want to play there likely won't be anything that throttles the GF4ti in DX8 titles (and maybe not even then.

But remember those were mainly DX8 tests, rightmark gives us an idea of what to expect in DX9 titles, but even then there is so much variance it's best to find out how the title you specifically want plays with your card or the card you want to get.

MMMmmm next Generation PR, Tasty!

Maybe that'll get the barf taste out of your mouth.

Yeah, I'm undoubtedly waiting...I thought the current cards really put a hurting on cards like mine: I was wrong. I really only play DX8/7 games anyway (except Halo [big exception], NFS:U and Madden 2004, which look bad without DX9 [not to mention they are the only games that I can't run AA or AF on because of the strain they place on my 4400]), and all with good/great quality.

I get more and more anxious for next gen. Why can't the cards come out already!?!

Maybe that'll get the barf taste out of your mouth.
Yeah, now that I'm not sick anymore (non-computer related), I should probably drop that sig and think of something creative (tough part).

I think I'm going to throw up.

How does NFS:U play @ 1024x768 on your 4400? what about with 2x AA, no aniso. And also, have you played hot pursuit 2 on it? what's it like. THose are the 2 main games I'm getting a new comp for, please share.

NFS:U @ 1024x768, 2xAA, no aniso, FULL (yes, even motion and light blur) detail: around 35FPS.
Without blurs: 45-55FPS. Maybe it's just me, but I find anything above 25FPS playable for racing games, so I keep it at 1280x960, 2xAA, motion blur (no light blur) and I get around 30FPS.

Not sure about Hot Pursuit 2, but I'd imagine it doesn't tax the system nearly as much. NFS:U uses many more complex shaders, as well as trickier lighting effects.

If you like playing games at 60FPS, the 4400 will be hard-pressed to pull that off (mine is OCed to almost 4600 speeds [300,600] at high quality with Underground.

Damn Rambus.

That sounds perfect. Any game above 30 fps works perfect for me. 24 fps actually is fine, or else I wouldn't go to the movies ;)

Different technology and settings don't confuse the two.

(issue has been covered 8 trillion times).

What do you mean "issue". If it's an "issue" for you that's fine, you can keep it to yourself. I'm not confused at all, to me it's just how it is, same principle applies for both and technology-wise the only difference is that most games have a variable cadency, as oppossed to film/video's constant rate. I understand that 24 fps in a game also means that sometimes you would get 5 fps which sucks, I'm guessing that's your point, other than that, there's no significative difference as far as perception goes; of course I'm open to any other fact I'm sure you'll point out. BTW, I don't appreciate it when somebody jumps into a conversation to tell me I'm confused without making an actual point, so...

Notice they underclocked the TNT2 Ultra so the MX200 could beat it, what's up with that? I'll tell you what's up with that: I overclocked both an TNT2 and MX200 to their max, and the TNT2 standard beat the MX200 in 3D-Mark 2000.

I was just thinking that they may have underclocked the card to approximate the performance of a non-ultra card, but then they shouldn't have listed it as an ultra in the graphs.
