Hi, I turned on my laptop today to discover that the "L" key now mutes my volume rather than doing what it's supposed to do.
Other changes include:
"volume up" now counts as a right click
"9" now does nothing
"brightness down" now brings up search
"search button" goes to desktop
"wifi button" is now a backslash
"print screen" is now a "W"
"right-hand shift key" now brings up devices

At first I assumed some malware had got me so i did a virus check with AVG and a malware check with malware bytes. it found a pup.optional.installcore file it thought suspicious so it was removed. However this fixed nothing

I have tried restoring the computer to a point last week but it didn't fix the problem.

I finally got hold of a little usb keyboard and can confirm that it works perfectly which brings me to the conclusion this is a hardware issue not software.

What could possibly have caused this and does anyone know of a way to fix it?

Potentially relevant information:

Yesterday when I turned on the laptop it told me the date/time app wasn't working and sure enough it was giving me a completely incorrect time. I assumed a driver or whatever had broken and I put it on the list of things I would sort later.

That evening, when I shut down the laptop, it made a series of beeps (3 or 4 im not sure)

When I turned it on this morning is when the problem started.

I have since shut down and restarted several times and the beeps have not come back.

My laptop sits on a fan mat and is constantly very cool so I don't think the beeps are related to heat.

The date/time issue was fixed when I restored the computer.

I hope that provides as much detail as is possible. If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Thanks

How? If I go into my device's hardware and find the standard PS/2 keyboard there isn't a reset option. There is the option to update driver but apparently it is already up to date so this doesn't fix anything
