Crazy long boot time

I have arch Linux with cinnamon and gdm installed. When I boot it up it takes about 45 seconds to get to the log in screen. If I log in into cinnamon it takes another 50 seconds to get to the desktop. If I load gnome it loads instantly. How can I fix this?

Solution
Are you shutting the systen down properly? It seems to be spending a long time checking the hard disk on startup. If you are shutting down correctly this might indicate a hardwRe problem.
