I have a strange problem. I am having trouble about losing internet connection at certain times. As soon as CRC errors steadily rise up to 20.000, I lose connection. I changed my router to ASUS N17U but the problem persists. Some say in local forums that it could be happening because of bad xDSL cable.

I was able to manage to take a screenshot when the time CRC errors rise and lose connection. It has reached 20.000 quickly, like 500 to 1000 CRC errors per sec. Could you give me some clue about the cause of this? Thank you.

You have to hope is it bad cable because a bad modem in your router would mean you buy a new router.

I would check all the cable from your modem to the point where the phone cable comes in for any damage or loose connections. If it all possible plug directly into the phone company demark with a short cable and see if it keeps happening.

After this it is outside anything you can fix so you need to call the ISP and have them come and check. You are getting pretty good numbers so it is likely some form of interference but only the phone company has the equipment to say for sure.

This is my second router actually. I was using a Zyxel router before. It somewhat happened with that router too but I'm not sure if it is because of CRC errors or not.

Okay, I'll do that. The building's internal plumbing is very old. We (as apartment residents) still don't use RJ inputs. We use old technology which is in effect since 1990s. Do you think it is worth to try a CAT 5 or 6 cable from the built-in box that located bottom of the building? Or a new, normal telephone cable will be sufficient?

Edit: Maybe I should tell you this that it is NDSL. No telephone. But I still use splitter box that separates internet and the phone interference. I know I should probably remove it but are there any side effects for using splitter box in NDSL?
