Creating a 12v rechargable battery pack?

Hello, I am curious about making a battery pack for my Lynx 10.1in tablet. It takes a 12v power supply, usually via outlet power supply but I wanted to use some old laptop batteries I have laying around to make a battery pack. I have googled and searched to no proper solution.or maybe I'm not thinking outside the box enough. I found a battery pack for D batteries but I want something I can recharge. Anyone have any ideas that might help?

You would need to recreate something with identical specs to the original battery.

How would you go about fitting these batteries in the laptop?

You can buy ready-make external laptop battery packs (not cheap, BTW). Everything else is prone to malfunction, or fire.
