Current specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-6900K
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080
SSD1: Samsung 850 Pro 512GB (for OS, programs)
SSD2: Samsung 960 Pro NVMe PCIe M.2 1TB (for project files, scratch, media cache & data)
HDD: WD Black 6TB (2015) (for longer term storage)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400 C14 4x8GB
MBD: Asus X99-DELUXE II

Please advise if this is a balanced system or not, and what I can do to make it so. Please pay particular attention to the RAM: 'enough', not 'enough', wrong speed? - I should say I'm not planning to OC the CPU, as preference is for longer-term stability rather than shorter-term oomph.

Many thanks in advance.

4K editing is a booger.
Unless your program can GPU acceleration then the 1080 is really wasted money.
If it cant then I would look at a GTX 1060 6GB card and up the memory to 64GB.
I dont like the motherboard choice to many bad user reviews but I would up the m r mory speed to 2800.

Hello again. Fast off the mark :)

Main program is currently Premiere Pro CC. Logic behind the 1080 is that Lumetri colour is my friend :p and my understanding is that something like that is very much GPU accelerated. Might also be moving to / trying out DaVinci Resolve in the future and I've heard that is pretty heavy - heavier than Premiere. Any chance you could validate?

RAM. 1) If staying with 2400, is that just a case of getting two 4x8GB kits of the Corsair?
RAM. 2) ARK lists the max supported RAM for Broadwell-E CPUs at 2400 not 2800. This is something I don't understand at the moment: won't the memory just run at 2400MHz because of the CPU? Could 2800 sticks be run at 2800 without OC-ing the CPU?

MOBO. Do you have a go-to motherboard? Or can you recommend one over the Deluxe II? Something with a WS at the end maybe? The case I've got my eyes on is the updated H440 with no window, so I don't care what it looks like inside, by the way.

Thanks man. Any opinion on other motherboards?

That board does look really good - I'll probably take advantage of the extra M.2 slot, and I don't expect to have anything other than a single GPU in the PCIe slots, so it seems the Taichi does everything I want it to. Thanks for opening my eyes to ASRock.
