So I wanted to make a budget gaming PC. I wanted to base everything off with the intel i5 2500k. I looked around ebay and found that the LGS 1155 Dell Optiplex Motherboards go for a pretty low price. My question is would there be any problems with graphics card compatibility, ram, and other general problems? I would also like to overclock would that be possible? Thanks.

Here are the links to the motherboard and the processer:

many of the Dell Optiplex machine uses proprietary connectors especially the front control panels that may or may not be fully documented.
unless you plan to use it in its original case, you should probably avoid it.

That Dell use Small Form Factor BTX form factor, not ATX. You will have great troubles finding BTX case to put it in unless you have a OptiPlex 790 SFF case, in addition to front-panel connections mentioned above.

Your looking at least $75 for OC and around $50 for basic H61. I would not recommend OEM HP, Dell motherboards unless you have the rest of that system. Choose retail boxed Intel, Asus, Gigabyte, etc.

You probably cant use that MOBO, since the PSU connectors are proprietary on Most OEM stuff, like dell. If you really want something like that, look at buying a used prebuilt dell optiplex or something like that. I priced it out for a friend with a LP 1050 and and a i7 3770 and it came to about 400 USD for everything. The PCIe slot provides all the power for the card so everything works. You just can upgrade to any card with a power connector, so your stuck at 1050 TI level cards and you the card will run a little hot. But they are nice, small and cheap little gaming computers. I5's go for even less. just, no OCing.

So in general if I want something cheaper then take an OEM Dell PC and upgrade it, but if I want something a little more future proof then I should probably build everything with custom parts?
