Hi Guys,

I need some advice, my sister in law asked me to upgrade her old e-machine, that currently has
windows vista

Bestec power supply ATX-300-12E.
160 GB Western Digital Harddrive
DVD+/-/Ram CDRW

They don't use it for anything special just email, word processing, surfing the web looking at pictures. The new specs are as follows:

Using the same case.
CPU - Intel I7-4770 ---got one from a friend ***Update Intel i5-4570S

Windows 8.0 -- which i heard i can upgrade to windows 8.1. (had a disk)

Hard drive - 160 GB western Digital harddrve. (orginal)
MotherBoard - ASUS H81M-K LGA 1150 Intel H81 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 uATX Intel Motherboard

I need some help choosing a Power Supply and memory. I am trying for low cost with really good performance. Also i would like some opinions on my build. any help is greatly appreciated. Plus there isn't much space to work with in the case... Thanks in advance.

Solution
sell the I7 and use the money for some more budget parts. The I7 is so overkill for just surfing the net and stuff. For the money you get for it you could pry get a good cpu+motherboard combo from amd or go and get an I3
So you're not upgrading the eMachine, but rather building a whole new PC, and maybe reusing the most inexpensive parts. Case and DVD drive.

New MB, CPU, GPU, RAM, PSU, monitor, OS...that equals a new PC.
And quite possibly the existing eMachine case is not usable. They are well known for being non-standard.

Makes sense, didn't think that the emachine case wasn't going to be usable, I will take a closer look at..I was hoping to cut down on cost by reusing.

You are right going with a lower cpu like the I3 or I5 would be better i think my friend can get me an I5, any ideas on a good mobo?
