Hey, this my first post on this site although i have been coming to the site for a while now.
2500 budget
Well now to the good stuff. This is my first build and I go to a school of design for 3d animation, visual
effects, video editing, and with that comes the realm of 2d and sound so pretty much i want a creative pc for my self at home. I have been searching for parts for my build and was wondering if any one can approve, suggest, or give there thoughts on this. Btw i will play games but not crisis or anything just starcraft 2 so yea.....lol I am attempting to get a dual monitor set up(i have one already), core i7, run a raid 0, overclock, sound card, video capture thing, and if you guys can suggest anything else i would really appreaciate it. Also even suggest things out of the budget because i can get it later down the road.

ok, i'd slow down for a sec

The huge price jump in the 950 probally doesn't warrent getting that over the 920.

When you say overclocking you have any idea how far you want to push your i7? I ask because your ram is way overkill

I deffiantly would not recommend the seagart hard drive. I'd go with WD Black Drives. Much better preformance and reliablity.

When it comes to motherboard choice i think it mostly depends on how far you want to overclock. and this also will lead into dealing possibly with water cooling if u really want to push it that far. Only thing is it will shorten the lifespan of the cpu possibly if you go as far as it seems like ur wanting to go with the parts you've selected currently.

Hey thanks for the advice kubes.

I am a little on the bad english side, so can you clarify if your saying that i should get the 950 or 920, because as of now im thinking about the 920.

and I don't know how far i want to push my i7, i might just stick with 6 gb's or ram instead of 12 for now.

ill check out some more hardrives, just to be sure, WD=Western Digital right?

the main reason i feel i that i should push my pc that far is because i dont want to get a "cheaper" one just to find out that it cant handle my work. btw when you say shorten lifespan, how short are we talking about here, because if its about 2 years then its no problem i plan to upgrade every 18 months.

I would deffiantly go with the 920 over the 950.

If you plan on overclocking over 4ghz then you've probally got a pretty nice rig setup.

Otherwise here might be a much cheaper alternative:
Swap Ram for:
OCZ gold 1600 - $100/90 MIR
or
OCZ Plat 1600 - $140/$130 MIR ->tighter timings

HardDrives:
I question the quality of Seagate drives. Here is a higher preformaning drives and imo much better quality:
WD Black 1TB $95 -> if u need more space grab two.
Also one other note if u want to mirror dirves put them in raid 1, not 0. Raid one mirrors the drives. So if one fails u have a complete copy of the data on the other. Raid 0 is both hard drives are added together to make two hard drives look like one. So if u have two, 1tb drives and raid 0 them. It'll look like 1 2tb drive available to you. If one drive fails data is lost across all drives.

Monitor:
Hanns -G 28" Monitor $330 -> just want to give u another option (I have two of these and there not bad).

Motherboard:
I'm not really sure any longer that you'll be actually using all the features the evga classfied board will offer you. You may want to consider the evga x58 sli board or Asus pt6 se2 boards. They are a bit cheaper and will most likely have all the features you require for your build and overclocking needs. I'd only consider the evga classfied if your going over 4ghz.

For your power supply, Corsair is where you want to be, assuming it'll give you enough power http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16817139009 is a good way to go.

For a HDD, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136284 is a pretty good value if 1 TB is enough.

If you really need more than that I actually suggest 2 of them, their 1.5 and 2 TB drives are Caviar Green rather than Black, and at that their 2 TB is a higher $/gb and since you'll have plenty of space and sata connectors there's no reason to overspend.
