I left my pc on and paused the youtube video I was watching and went to take a nap. After I woke up, my pc gave me the "critical process died". My PC then went into Automatic repair and I let it do its thing. After it did end up loading into windows 10 to the point where I was able to log in. After I logged in, it was so damn slow, the applications such as discord and steam took about 10 minutes just to load. I then shut down my pc again and it went into Automatic Repair again. I forget what happens, but basically it kept saying "your pc cannot be repaired with error code-"C:\windows\system32\logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt. I searched up the issues and tried many things, but still can't fix the issue. I've had this PC for about a year and use it for gaming and school work, so it's powered on for about 8-9 hours a day.

- memtest doesent show any errors so my RAM should be ok????

-I put windows 10 on a usb to try to reinstall it by installing on the partition which is my 2tb hard drive, but I just get an error and I cant clean install

-IF I dont have my boot usb as mentioned above in the first spot for the boot order, I get the message to insert a boot device

-Ive tried most trouble shoot options (advanced options)

-I've tried repairing using USB drive, but all it does it loop back to the install screen for Windows 10

-I've tried to use command prompt to do chkdsk (error 50) and sfc/ scannow, but nothing happens.

-i cant use restore points

-i dont even have an option for "startup settings"

-"startup repair options" doesn't work and it just loops back to installing Windows 10

-I dont know if this is significant information but I can boot with my USB into the installation screen even if my hard drive is unplugged.

My last resort is just to buy a new hard drive.

basically nothing works. I am open to try more options, but I really just think it just my hard drive that's messed up??? I dont know how to check if my RAM is working or if it could be any other component causing the issue. My last resort it just to by an SSD

C:\windows\system32\logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt often happens when Windows is corrupted. Fastest fix is a clean install

is there any data on drive you want to rescue?
boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose command prompt
type notepad and press enter
in notepad, go to file>Open
In explorer, copy any files you want to save onto an USB or 2nd hdd
Once you backed up everything, we try a clean install.

Which error do you get when you try to clean install? Have you tried deleting all the partitions on the 2tb drive, selecting the unallocated space and click next? This will allow win 10 to make its own partitions.

this shows how to fix error 50 but if you clean install, you don't need this: https://www.easeus.com/resource/failed-to-transfer-logged-messages-status-50.html

I don’t really care what I will lose on the hard drive. I’ve tried to clean install and delete prior partitions, but then it tells me I can’t use the unallocated space and I’m just stuck. The last time I deleted all the partitions, my boot usb that was plugged in changed l, and I had to reformat it back into a boot usb by using another desktop i had. I’m stuck in a loop. when I try to clean install I get an error. When I try to repair using USB, I instantly get an error. I’m willing to try your solution, but if nothing works no worries since I just ordered another hard drive that’s coming in today.

So even if you delete all the partitions on PC and choose unallocated space, you get an error? What does error say? is it talking about GPT or something else? If its GPT, try restarting PC and try installing again. PC might need a restart, its happened to me.

if the error is asking for drivers, that is an error caused by the USB drive itself, you might need to use another USB.

Can you take a picture of the error and upload to a image sharing web site and show link here

How are you deleting partitions? During the install process after choose custom install or via diskpart? I can't see how you could do anything to USB just by trying to delete the partitions through the installer, it shouldn't show you the USB drive at that screen.

steps 12 or 13 here show where you should be deleting the partitions, PC shouldn't show the USB drive - https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-clean-install-windows-10-a.html
