I've spent the past few hours trying to resolve this myself with no luck, so if the Windows gods of Toms Hardware could help me out I'd appreciate it.

I came back from work to discover that my PC which I had left locked had a BSOD displaying the error code CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. I restarted it to see if that would make a difference and it allowed me to log in and use it for about 5 minutes before crashing and displaying the same error. Didn't do anything in particular to cause it since I've done it about six times afterwards and in all instances I was doing different things when it crashed.

It works fine in safe mode and seems to be hard drive related. I've tried running chkdsk and repairing it but have gotten multiple error codes when it actually started scanning on restart. Error codes for the scan/repair are WDF_VIOLATION, Auto Check Program Not Found, and BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO.

As for recovery options, I don't have any disk to do a clean install from or any backups.

Thank you in advance for anyone who can help me out with this.
