i3-6100 would be a better purchase than AMD FX would at this point:

Perhaps I am missing something, but that is a dual core at 3.7 GHz while the one I have selected is 6 cores at 3.5GHz. I don't see how the intel is better, can you explain?

Intel can do more, per core, than AMD can. They are more efficient. It holds its own well, even against an overclocked FX 8320e. Also AM3+ is a dead platform.

Fallout 4, it manages to beat an FX 9590.

A slower clocked, last gen, i3, holds its own well against a 3.9ghz FX 6350, and not far behind an FX 8350, in witcher 3. With skylake's performance increase, and the faster clock speed, it should be about even with the FX 8350.

Better wifi adapter, and much better GPU, than what you chose, for not much more.

The AMD FX is a much older processor running on a much older platform. AMD FX = 2011, Intel Sky Lake = 2015 / 2016. The FX has no upgrade path other than the 93XX, which is widely considered a joke among serious PC enthusiasts. The Intel platform has lots of possible upgrade combinations.
