I just want to start off by saying I'm a total noob at this building thing. So far these are the parts I'm interested in putting together for my PC, mainly to play BF3 (hopefully on the highest settings). I'm really interested in your feedback, particularly whether I'm missing something important and where this could use improvement. Thanks!

Overall looks a solid build. Quad-core CPU and 6950 GPU should help to play BF3 nicely. Your motherboard is perhaps a little cheaper than what id go for personally, but fundamentally, its spec is fine for a single card set up :)

RAM, HDD, Optical Drive all look good. PSU is top quality.

Decided to go with a different approach. How is this build? I already bought the i5 2500k for $180 😀 Now it's a matter of picking the components that complement it.

Please I'm open to any critiques. What am I missing? What do you think overall?

Overall, everything (including monitor, keyboard, windows) comes out to $974 excluding mail in rebate. With MIR, it's $939.

you need to look around the web. there are a lot of things popping up about the game and it's needs. from what I've seen you're shorting yourself in the graphics department. Don't know what your resolution is going to be but from what I read I would get a card with more vram. DX11 and tessellation will bring a lot of machines to their knees..... I can go on but to know for sure wait until the demo is out and listen to what reviewers and more importantly what users have to say about it.

They were released a few days ago. Looks like you're right. a GTX 560 or AMD 6950 is merely "recommended"
