Cross cable or patch cable ?

Hi , I wanna connect my Xbox one to my router so do I need a cross cable or patch cable for this ? And what is a patch cable ?

A patch cable is a straight-through ethernet cable. A crossover cable is one where two pairs have been switched.

It doesn't matter; if either end of the link was made in the last decade it will auto-detect.

You will need a patch cable. A patch cable will be the most common cable you'll find at the store and pretty easy to find as it's a normal ethernet cable. However the Xbox1 has built in WiFi so if your router has wireless you can just connect it that way instead.

a general rule is

like for like = cross over

else

patch


so switch to switch = crossover

or computer to computer = crossover


xbox to switch (within your router) = patch

This is how my internet is : The main cable internet wire came and it is hooked into my router. Now I wanna connect my xbox one to the router so that I get internet on my xbox one.

That cable will work. They also sell a cat5e one for a little less that will work also.

What really bothers me about the site you link is the person who wrote the description of the cables does not have a clue. They say cat6 at 1024 mpbs and then they say 100-base-t. On the cat5e one they say 100mbps and 10/100 base-t

This is very misleading. Both cat5e and cat6 cable can run traffic at 1g rates so there is no reason to spend extra for cat6. Generally cat6 cable is not used for much now that cat6a is available for 10g connections.

If you can find another vendor that post proper description I would be a little more trusting of them. Still the cable will likely work since they do not actual manufacture it themselves.
