Crossfire 7870's or gtx 670 or higher

Hello i really need help deciding what i should do with my current system. i play bf3 allot and i have a radeon 7870 with a phenom ii x6 1090t cpu.

i would like to get a minimum of 60fps on ultra settings and it currently does about 40 - 50 sometimes. i have about $400 to spend and i cannot decide what to do? if i do get a gtx 670, will it be bottlenecked by my cpu?

my radeon 7870 i have now is a powercolor ghz edition. please help me decide what to do. i dont have to get a gtx 670 i could even go possibly sli gtx 660 ti because i heard that config would be better than one 690? btw i have 16gb of corsair vengeance ram. any help or advice would be greatly appreaciated

tough call. a 670 is better than a 7870 by far but in a number of games a Xfire 7870 would blow the 670 out of the water. (sorry haven't found BF3 benchies)

i would not worry about either set up with a 1090t; a good heatsink and overclocking will solve any potential bottleneck.

thankyou for the quick reply, i have a corsair h40 on my cpu and i can get it to 3.8ghz stable. i also forgot to ask because if i do go with the crossfire 7870's i have a 750 watt power supply, do you think that is enough for both 7870's a H40, 16gb of ram, 1tb hdd and 120gb ssd and a few fans? btw if you were in my predicument what would be your choice?

xfire would stutter like hell though it's not worth it.

what do you mean it would stutter? what would i get with a gtx 670 on everthing highest on bf3 with 1080 x 1920? i want to also make sure it will be good enough for the years to come like when bf4 comes i will still get more than 60fps

There is still some micro-stutter in multi-GPU configurations, but it doesn't matter when you get to high FPS (above 70-80 FPS I'd say).
You can also use Radeon Pro to get rid of most of the stuttering.

I feel that this microstuttering thing on all multi GPU set up things nowadays are just inflated to make them seem worse than they really are. My Xfire setup is working fine, no "microstuttering" that people talk about.

I forgot to mention that i edit and render allot of videos so will 2 7870's render faster than 1 gtx 670. i will make my decision tonight whether to get another 7870 or gtx 670 so i need to know. i can get another 7870 for $250 or a gtx 670 for $385. if i get another 7870 should i get the same as the my current one which is this: http://powercolor.com/us/products_features.asp?id=416

if i shouldnt get the same one which other 7870 should i get?

AFAIK xfire doesn't affect rendering; it uses one gpu. also there is the question of what software are you going to use and what size are the files? ( for smaller files, there really is no difference in speed but larger one tend to favor nVidia for speed.)

you did ask about your PSU before, as long as it has four 6 pin PCI power connections you ought to be fine unless you have a flaming brick from diablotek in your box.

ya know the logically decision is since you already have a 7870 it would be more economical to buy another one. well, so far . . .
edit: you can get any 7870.

edit: you can get any 7870.

Any other 7870 will work in crossfire, but It's recommended to get the same exact card and the same brand. It reduces the chance of there being any problems like microstutter ect. But if it were me, I'd just go for the cheapest 7870 I could find.
