Crossfire 7970 and r9 280x

Hey guys just got a couple of questions with my setup atm. Im currrently using a 7970 and a r9 280x in a crossfire setup my main game is bf4 but i play a few other games as well. I having trouble with my crossfire, when im in game i get random frame drops and the performance seems to be worse when using crossfire than using 1 card. My cards also only run at around 50% each and around 60 degrees

I have my 7970 as my master card as that is what i have read. It is also my first time using crossfire and wondered if there is anything i havent done that i need to do?

I have the same cards (7970 as master). My pc crashes when I launch a game. I'm wondering if I should swap it. The r9 as master instead. Is yours up and running ? Or maybe the CF bridge. It it plugged into the first slot. Is that right? Lol my first time cf too.

Even though they are only running at 45%, what are the temps getting to?
