I currently have on my build a ASUS EAH6850 DirectCU but im going to upgrade it to a R9 270X. The mobo I intend to buy is crossfire compatible so i ask: Is there any to crossfire those 2 cards and get the extra performance?
Ive read the faq but i wasnt clarified so thats why im asking.

No, to xFire / SLI 2 (or more) graphics cards. They must be the same model.

You can however have 2 different manufacturers / series but it is not suggested since often manufacturers use different overclocks.

eg. R9-290 and R9-290X will NOT work

Asus R9-290 and MSI R9-290 will work.

in a crosfire settup the GPU´s has to be from the same serie like 6850 and 6850 or 6850 and 6870 but remember a chain is only as strong as its weakest link (this is not for onboard graphics in crosfire with a VGA card thats a different type of crosfire )
