Hello

can some please confirm that I can use these 2 cards for a CrossfireX setup. Will it work?

XFX Radeon™ HD 4850 1.0 GB DDR3 (HD-485X-ZDFC)

SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100273L Radeon HD 4850 1GB 256-bit GDDR3

Yes. However, if one is clocked slightly higher, it will 'downgrade' to the slower card's memory and clock speeds.

Just make sure your motherboard has two PCIe x16 slots that operate at either x16/x16 or x8/x8, and your power supply has the juice to operate a pair of cards in CF. One thing I'd mention in case you haven't heard it yet is to totally uninstall your ATI drivers, and clean out the remnant files using 'DriverSweeper' before plugging in your new card, and reinstalling the ATI software. Do these things and you'll be golden, and loving your setup. :)

Does a Crossfire setup only provide benefit for gaming does it provide any benefit for watching movies. What about if your comp is hooked up to a LCD TV will it provide any benefit for moving watching?

Not likely. A single 4850 will handle HD (1920x1080) video without breaking a sweat, two would be unnecessary for movies.

The only real discernible benefits of a Crossfire setup is increased framerates when gaming, and the ability to play those games at a higher resolution.
