Crossfire dual monitor setup. Fullscreen game blinking problem

Hi, I am having issues with xFire. It works fine when it runs natively on my PC monitor but when I run a game in fullscreen on my TV display it blinks like crazy.

no both connection are on the firs PCIe slot. I don't think its a loose connection either because the game works when I put it in windowed mode. Which seems to me its either 1. my TV or 2. Crossfire causing issues. I think it might be more of #1 because when I set my main display to my PC monitor and run the game in fullscreen it works flawless.. also when I disable Crossfire both monitors work in fullscreen (either one as the primary display)

Yeah, I'm stumped too.. Funny thing is like I mentioned, it works fine when I set my primary display to my monitor but when I put it as my TV screen I get that flashing. Also, when I disable Crossfire it works.. which sucks.. I just tried deleting all AMD drivers in device manager and used AMD cleanup utility and reinstalled all drivers and still same issue. I even tried flashing one of my GPU's bios and still..

EDIT: I have an idea which I'll probably try tomorrow as it is late now. I have my TV hooked up to HDMI and my monitor is DVI. I think it may be my main GPU's output that might be causing the problem. I'm going to try to swap around the GPU's tomorrow and see how it fairs and if my hypothesis is correct.

2nd EDIT: wow.. so it is my primary GPU that's the issue. I took out the plugs while it was blinking and reinserted it and it swapped monitors, making the pc monitor flash while the tv worked albeit with a bit of discoloration.

damnit.. so without physically swapping GPU (PCIe slots) and just switching the display out ie. as in plugging the input into the 2nd gpu ports, the same thing happens.. not sure what the issue is and if me switching PCIe slots will even make a difference now.. back to sq 1. 🙁

3rd EDIT: WOW.. seems its a driver issue? Dragon Age Inquisition booted up in fullscreen and utilizing both GPUs without any hiccups. Earlier flashing problems were tested on Gone Home and Dragons Dogma. Which begs to question if these issues are because of non AMD optimization?

I know I pretty much talked to myself in this thread. That's how annoying the issue was bugging me. Anyways, I found the solution. I ended up formatting my main drive and reinstalled Win 10 and everything seems to have been solved!

Hi Tee10! I seem to having the same problem! however reinstalling windows 10 did not fix this for me! Did you make any other changes in settings? what driver are you running now?

my system spec:
I5-3570K
8Gb ram
2x 7970GHz in crossfire
750Watt Corsair psu
2SSD in raid 0
Windows10 Pro
Radeon 16.12.2 driver

After installing an AMD update the problem seems to have came back, but only on certain games. Trying to pinpoint the exact cause at the moment. Think it might be a certain dx version but I could be wrong. The funny thing is only certain games seem to have this problem. I've only have a workaround for this problem at the moment which is setting it only to one display (WIN+P) or in display config. But this also only works on some games. Hopefully I can find a solution to my problem and hopefully this can help you.

Also, forgot to add to use RadeonPro and try enabling crossfire in there and oveririding the games AA and see if that helps. It worked on Batman Arkham Origins for me but still hasn't worked on Need For Speed Shift 2 for me or Burnout Paradise

Hey Alex not sure if you fixed it or not but I've found a temporary solution. It's more of a work around (for me anyways). Maybe once I upgrade to single GPU, hopefully a 1080 I won't need to bother with this annoyance.

Anyways, this is what I am doing right now to get around this screen flashing with games. I am using a program called CRU which lets you customize the monitor's refresh rate and other settings which I have done to both my monitor and tv. But that didn't really fix the issue, what I've actually came to do is use the "restart" software it came with to let me run the games on the screen I want with out issue. Basically:
1. just run the game you want on the monitor you want in windows mode.
2. Then "Win" key + "P" and select single monitor display for that monitor.
3. run the restart app. Wait for it to restart your display
4. and then fullscreen your game.

It should work for the intended monitor/screen you want to run the game in fullscreen. I then alt-tab out and Win+P again and extend the display so I can have both screens up. I hope that helps.

Edit:
Its really infuriating to say the least but just a heads up once you get the screen you want to display the game in fullscreen working. You will then have to repeat the steps to make it work again for the other screen if you want to run the game on that screen (if the game you are running is flickering).
