Crossfire hd 5770 recommended power supply

Hi, I'm thinking of adding another ati hd 5770 to my computer, but I do not know if I should also update my Power Supply.

I have an Antec Basiq Plus 550W.

In my computer i have:

Motherboard: GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366
Processor: Intel core I7 960 3.2
RAM: 6 GB (3 sticks of 2 GB DDR3)
HDD: 2 sata Drives 7200 RPM
Fans: 1 of 120mm, 2 of 140mm
Graphics card: ATI Sapphire HD 5770

Normally, I would think i have to change the power supply, but I was checking in this page http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine

and when i enter the info of what I have, and add a crossfire configuration, that website gives me a recommended PSU wattage of 419.

What do you guys think? I live in Argentina, and things here are expensive, so if I could save the trouble of getting a new PS it would be great, but I do not want to put my hole computer at risk!!

at least a 650 maybe 700W. you need to take into consideration of other parts (RAM, CPU, etc.)

@ct1615: Do you have a 5770 xfire setup? Looking at your specs, the answer would be no. Running a 5770 xfire setup with only a 500W psu, you're kidding right? unless you want your pc to turn off everytime you get a graphics heavy scene. You can look at graphics and stats all day, but in the end, only real world solutions matter. @lichi run by cyberpowerpc.com, choose a setup similar to yours and add two 5770s. the minimum they will let you leave is with 650W. next time type in "power supply 5770 crossfire" and read the forum threads that come up. I just did that and no one recommended anything below 600W. except that guy

As you can see, on that system with an overclocked i7 EE, the power consumed is around 425 watts.So, ct is right. However its good to have some extra juice so I'd recommend this one:

so freakin' hostile. yeah, did my homework too. spent the past couple of months looking at benchmarks for gpus, cpus, hd, ssd, psu, mobos, ram, spent hours reading threads like this before dumping $1500 on a new build, which you did not even look at (and I'll be open to any suggestions any of you may have). I recommended a 650W psu, you say I'm wrong, then support a suggested 620W psu.

I never said anything about buying or owning anything from cp-pc. I suggested it as a guidline.

wait a minute, I thought you said according to the benchmarks it won't reach 350W under load. so why are now you using 500w as a marker? why not suggest the op to stick with the antec basiq 550W

did you even check out psu's selected by cyberpowerpc? junk psu's? most (85%) psu's used in an i-7 960 setup are 80+ certified and a few suggested are 80+ gold (thermaltake, CM, etc). I was suggesting a 700W psu gives you the option to upgrade your xfire in the future, if not then the one suggested by tamz is a good choice. Honestly ct, would you really use a 500w, even with xfired 5770s, based on benchmarks, when you can just as easily buy a 650w for <$20 more?

I think you you will not get a very much difference between one or two hd 5770 because they do not scale very largly like the 6000 series can
between,a 650w would handle it with ease or a solid 500w too.

Since you're on a tight budget, I say get a Corsair 550VX, which should be around 100$ in your country.

no not that low but my only thought was 5000 series crossfire is not as good as 6000 series.
but if he has a 5770 already, he will surely see an improvement cranking those resolutions.

^exactly.. probably a good 550W PSU will make it with 5770 CF if you decide on it.

Read on the ATI/AMD website and I quote "600W And two 6-pin connector for ATI CrossFireX technology in dual mode"
