I'm going to be crossfiring two Sapphire HD 7950s and I know nothing about crossfire. Don't try to talk me out of crossfiring, I already have the other card. I have some questions like what slot do I put the other card, which card do I put the 6-pin connectors or do I do it in both, what are the drivers and such I will need to install and is there any bios setting I need to tinker with? Basically just give me a run down of crossfire. thanks

First off, you need to uninstall your current AMD drivers. To do this, press the ‘start button’, and then start typing ‘uninstall a program’ and it should be found. Then click on ‘AMD Catalyst Install Manager’, click ‘change’ at the top, and then choose to ‘Express Uninstall ALL AMD Software’. This will remove all the AMD software and drivers, making it easier to start afresh with the latest versions. After this has completed, you may be prompted to restart your computer. When it has restarted, you should also download a driver sweeper program, in order to remove any trace of the AMD software left on your computer.

This will remove all the AMD software and drivers, making it easier to start afresh with the latest versions. After this has completed, you may be prompted to restart your computer. When it has restarted, you should also download a driver sweeper program, in order to remove any trace of the AMD software left on your computer.

You should now download the latest AMD driver software here. Choose the ‘express installation’ option, and the rest of the installation should be self explanatory. When that has finished, you’ll be asked to restart your system again. Once it has restarted, your screen resolution should be back to normal again.

Now, fully shut down the system again, as it’s time to install the second graphics card. You just plug in the second card in the motherboard , Connect the Power cables to it ( 2x6 pin cables ) assuming that your power supply has enough wattage.
For now, we’ll leave the Crossfire bridge off in order to double check the second card is recognised in the system. To do this, after installing the card, simply turn the PC back on, and when you get into Windows, you’ll hopefully be prompted with ‘New hardware has been successfully installed’. If this message doesn’t appear, click the ‘start button’, and type in ‘device manager’ and click the option that appears. Then under ‘Display adapters’ you should hopefully see both of your installed AMD cards there.

As you’ve now confirmed your system has recognised the second card has been installed, you can now shut down your system again, and put the Crossfire Bridge on. Once installed, you can turn your computer back on, and when in Windows, open up the ‘AMD Catalyst Control Centre’ from the tray icon, and under the ‘Gaming’ tab on the left hand side, choose ‘AMD CrossfireX’ and choose ‘Enable AMD CrossfireX’. Restart the system again, and your system should now be set up for AMD Crossfire!
