Crossfire on a Gigabyte EP35-DS3P

Hi everyone i have a simple question for you.Can a Gigabyte EP35-DS3P run 2 x xFx HD4770 cards in crossfire ? the motherboard is ATI CROSSFIRE APROVED any help would be grateful CHEERS

It's a crossfire motherboard so of course. That's the whole point really.

but it has 1x16 slot and 1 x4 slot will it run near what it should

That will limit it some but less so for something like an HD4770 compared to crossfiring high end cards.

No, don't do it. Sorry I don't have the links (Tom's did some articles a while back), but x16/x4 Crossfire on P35 is a waste of time; you may even take a performance hit in some cases.

I would think that if a single x16 slot doesn't really affect the performance of an HD5970 then a x4 slot really shouldn't hamper an HD4770 much.

Thanks guys for all your feedback its been very helpful. ive decided not to go crossfire b/c my XFX ATI 4770 is getting around 91fps on fraps at 1440x900 with no problems at all playing call of duty 4 which i think is the best one of all and does crysis easily too, plus it will save me AU$131,00.

Yeah, 1 HD4770 should be very good for that resolution. Some of the more intensive games may benefit if you don't max out AA but that's about it.
