Crossfire Or Not

So I have been considering upgrading my computer by adding a second graphics card. My build has an i5 3570k, AMD 7950 HD Sapphire Vapor-X, 8 gigs of ram, and 720 watt PSU. I could purchase another good quality of the same graphics card for about $130 or eventually decide to buy a new one. I have already calculated the wattage and it look like I have enough. What do you think, would I get enough performance to warrant a second one, and is there enough compatibility with Crossfire? Also, if I bought a better graphics card like a 7970 and crossfired it with my 7950, would it do better than 2 x 7950, or would it not be any better?

well crossfiring will have stuttering and all that and not all games support crossfire but crossfire the 7970 and 7950
