Crossfire pcie slot question

Hello I just ordered this motherboard: http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16813130812 , it has 3 pcie 16x slots and I will be running 2 290s, my question is which lanes should I use/does it matter, I would guess to use the 2 with one in the middle for airflow.

For 2 way - 2-way mode: x16/ x16/ x0/ x0*, 16/ x8/ x0/ x0**

Use pcie slots 1 and 2. 3 and 4 won't be turned on.
