Hey i was looking at this card.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102697

Radeon x1800xl.

basically what i was wondering is are these cards in the generation where there isnt a master card needed

can i just have these two in pair for cross fire or would i need a master card?

ALso if there is a master card needed for these what two cards each under 315$ would yo think would work best in crossfire.

I think if these do not need master cards then it would be a good deal to get one. And get another one a year later for crossfire.

what do you think?

im just trying to find the least expensive best output crossfire card which i can get. Then a year or 1.5 later get the second pair to boost my performance.

That card you linked for $309 is a SAPPHIRE X1800XT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail ...

and you use a X1800 CF card with the X1800 series, which runs at XT native speeds (unless overclocked to XTX speeds) while the other card runs at its default (or overclocked) native speed.

Try bartering prescriptions!

Let's not even begin to discuss the fu**ed up and money hungry drug industry in the U.S.

This is a hardware forum, after all :)

The X1800GTO's don't need a master card to run in CrossFire, though. Do you know if those will unlock? If they do, you basically have an XL for $50 off.

Meanwhile, I'll soldier on with my b3lov3d old x600 because my dad won't let me buy something better. I'll get copper VRAM sinks, and put the P4 heatsink/fan on it, and overclock to hell.

What in its description will let me know that it does not require a Master Card?

does anyone know?

it just sais crossfire ready just as on most others.

and this isnt a GTO this is a XT do only the gtos work with no mastercard or do the xts?

and where does it say this

well my plan is this.

To buy one expensive card that does not reqire a master card now.

then in about 1-1.5 years to buy teh same card when it drops in price. Thus gaining a boost for less money.

i dont plan to buy the other card anytime soon, thats why i wuld like the lowest class card that doesnt require a master

is this the 1800xt or ?

1800 and 1900 require master cards, 1600 series doesnt,

for one that does not require a mastercard then the 7900gt would do, its 300 on newegg, gl finding it in stock though, last time i checked all 11 manufacturers were out on newegg

Wow....

I thought that when ATI came out with the 1xxx series you didn't need a "master" card anymore.

I looked at their website and indeed that is true...18xx & 19xx need them....16xx doesn't......

IMHO they milkin the buyer.......

A shame...I hate when they do that....

A side note:
Me havin a 7800gt does not bias me.....first nvidia I ever bought.....was more mature....
