Hello,

I m planning to get 2nd r9 270x, but then realised r9 270 is the same card, so is it possible to CF the 2?

if anyone has this setup or 270x CF , your comments are most required....

Thanks and Regards,
Bhuvanesh

Solution

I wll definitely overclock it, the cost of 270 is over 50$ less in my country, thats the reasoni dun feel like spending more there.....

How much have you overclocked it to, so i cant geet a range work with?? i cant justify paying soo much more man... i can get 4 gb ram for the 60$ extra...

so its definitely possible to mix 270 and 270x isnt it?

Not all GPUs from the same factory line will meet the same standard.
You can't necessarily expect to just adjust the clock rate and make an R9 270X.
AMD would be choosing the better quality GPUs for the R9 270X models.

The other consideration is that AMD has engineered the R9 270 for a power ceiling of 150W and given it only one PCI-E power connector.
The R9 270X is rated at 180W and has two power connectors.
You may be able to buy an R9 270 with an additional power connector, but be careful if it does not because you don't want to exceed the rated power of the PCI-E slot and PCI-E power connector.

Guess i'll jus have to wait for a month or 2 more and save money, and get the 270x for hassel free condition.... but brand mixing works right?

Yes, no problems with brand mixing. If the two cards run at different clock speeds the faster one will be clocked down to the slower one, but with two 270X cards there shouldn't be a big difference between them.

Why? You can crossfire a 7870 with a 7850 so why not a r9 270 with a r9 270x?

Great idea bhuvanesh123 not to mention it looks kind of wonky with two different cards
