I've been thinking the last few days about the new upgrade I would like to make to my current build. I've gone with at the moment an AMD based system:

Processor: AMD Bulldozer 8000(something) 8-core 3.5GHz
GTX Card: VFX R9 280 X-Edition (X-Edition is the overclocked edition
Ram: Hyper X 16gb 1866mhz
PSU: Corsair 650Watt
Mobo: Gigabyte 990FXA-UDA

What I plan to do is upgrade the graphics card first of all, then move on to the motherboard and processor and go with an Intel processor.

My main question is would it be worth buying a second R9 280 or going with a GTX 980. I plan on live streaming using this PC (Playing games like CSGO, Black Ops 3 and other games).

If anyone can give their opinion on this then I would be very grateful.

Solution
I've ran AMD 7950s and currently running SLI GTX 970s. I've had no issues with running two cards. Never noticed microstutter, most of those issues have been addressed and fixed.
However, a 650w PSU isn't going to be enough for Crossfire 280s. You'd have to upgrade to at least 850w. 900w+ to be on the safe side. This could factor in with pricing.
Crossfire 280s will be better than a single 980 by 20%
