Hi there, before I start spending on anything I wanted to ask professionals or just people that have more experience then me, which is not hard to beat 😉

So I currently have a hd 7850, first of all I want to know if I could crossfire it with a R7 265 or what ever else you have to suggest, something spec similar of my hd 7850 of course.

Second, I want if it worth doing a crossfire with these cards, I dont want to end up with a load of problem and crashes, I know years ago we could read everywhere problems with crossfire but i guess in 2015 these problems are solved and not common anymore.

To finish, here is my computer spec, I dont know how to know if all this can work togheter!
cpu: fx-6300
motherboard: asus m5a97 r2.0
psu: corsair CX750 (750w)

Thanks all for your help :)

You can crossfire it with another 7850, same brand and model is best. If you want to upgrade, R9 270X is probably what you want to move to, but even that is a bit of a marginal upgrade, R9 380 would be a good boost, but your CPU will likely be the weak point in any upgrade.

For the running with the FX-6300 it is probably not worth it for a second video card or upgrade from the 7850 unless you are overclocking the CPU quite a bit.

Thanks for the answer btw, here is my second question, if I go with a 8350, will It be enough or its not a big upgrade? No problem either with motherboard?

And is it better to get a second hd7850 or (equivalent) or stay with a single video card and get a r9 380 like suggested?

Thabks again!

An 8350 would be a pretty decent improvement over a 6300, you can check compatibility on the motherboard vendor's support site. Do a BIOS update before you swap.

If it was me, I'd get a single faster card than the 7850 rather than a second card, or see how the system runs with just a faster CPU. Maybe just the CPU upgrade will give you enough of a boost that you may not care to upgrade the video card. Run the 3DMark tests on your current system and then again if you get the new CPU, if you see a good improvement, keep your card for a bit, maybe another generation when you can get a card as fast as today's high end cards for mid range price.

I was too impatient and went with a gpu upgrade, even if I knew my cpu wouldnt be strong enough.. i was too tempted to change my graphic card hehe. The thing i did not mention and might change something in this whole mess, is that I do have 3 monitors, so I thought the graphic cards was just not strong enough to run all monitors plus a high graphic game.

I just bought an r9 390, I can run my game (ARK survival) at Epic graphic with my 3 monitor over 35-40 fps. but now that I just installed HWMonitor, i realise the CPU is realy not strong enough, clock speed is always at 3813MHz for all 6 cores and is at 59-60 degree all the time even with DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300 fan.
So I guess a new cpu is the next step in my setup hehe 😛

Another question I have is, if CCC shows me the GPU runs at 100%, does it mean my cpu doesnt bottleneck my gpu at all? I did try to overclock my cpu, but my motherboard make it so hard to do so compared to my last one, at the end, im never able to start my game when overclocked, very weird.

Btw, thanks alot for your answers :)
