Crossfire XFX 7770 x16/x4

I am getting a new build with a single XFX 7770 core edition in it. I am wondering if in the future I could crossfire, but my mother board has 2 PCIe 16 lanes but the main one is x16 speed and the second is x4, they are PCIe 2.0. How much would this effect performance in a crossfire?

but we believe that it is a bad idea to Crossfire low end card

well to be specific I would say your looking at a serious bottle neck by doing so. a PCI express 2.0 slot @ 16x provides about 8GB sec of data transfer rate where a 4x slot only provides 2GB of data transfer rate. not saying that card would saturate the 16x lane but the 4x lane would more than likely be a serious bottle neck. if i were you i would consider selling the 7770 and looking at a 270x if you plan on playing high end games on max settings @ 1080p

So I have asked a few people this and they something similar to you, but they say that the data per second wont matter that much because that is only used during loading times for the most part. and maybe never even going over that much data at that time of most use. Is this true?
