So this build has been running fine for years. On Thursday it was shut off overnight somehow, and now it won't boot. Pressing the power button simply spins the CPU fan maybe 1/8" and nothing else happens. I tried replacing CMOS battery, pressing the START button on the MOBO, disconnecting everything except 24pin and cpu power, pulled all but 1 stick of RAM.

I also bought a new PSU thinking that was it, but that didn't solve the problem either. What's weird is the green pin to black pin paperclip trick doesn't work on either PSU?

Is it possible this MOBO is just dead? It is 10 years old now.

Solution
I was in your predicament when a Gigabyte mobo with an i5 2500K failed.
I just got a used mobo from eBay, since the CPU still does the tasks at hand.

OK nevermind, when I completely unplug the PSU from the Mobo and try the paperclip trick, it works fine. But when it's plugged into the Mobo then the PSU fan will not spin up.

I've purchased a new PSU as I posted earlier, this didn't work either. The PC is actually still very fast for my needs as I don't game anymore, but it looks like I may have to buy a new mobo, ram, and cpu if this is the case.
