[SOLVED] Crosshair viii 5950x not posting, q code 02 with boot qled on

My new pc does not post, when I turn it on, it displays code 02 and the boot led was on. I have tried reseating ram and gpu, flashing bios, and changing boot drives.

CPU- 5950x
GPU- gtx 1080
PSU- NZXT c850

Is the pci e power plug seated properly into gpu for second hand power to display

Well this shouldn't work seeing as you flashed the bios but try clearing the bios. Well psu is unplugged remove lithium battery from mobo amd hold psu button on tower for 30s x2s them reseat battery and psu cable.

What bios version did you flash?

First, try a different monitor cable/port. Make sure monitor is plugged into the GPU, not motherboard. Your issue could be similar to THIS

Secondly, bread board it. Take it all apart, and run it outside of the case with just the minimum connected. One stick of ram, cpu, gpu, no ssd/hdd.

I flashed bios version 3401. I tried breadboarding, but still q code 02 and the vga and boot led are on.

Also, I hear kind of a whining noise when I turn it on.

I plugged an HDMI cable into the graphics card, and now only the boot led stays on.

I also reused a 970 evo plus with windows already installed on it for the new build

Sounds like a corrupted ssd.

A system can post without a drive connected.

When you use the BIOS flashback it should be used when the CPU is not installed on the board. If it was redo the flashing. You put that usb key in the appropriate usb port at the rear and you press that button for 2-3 seconds until it start to flash. After a few minutes it will stop flashing. Process is done. This has to be done with no CPU in the socket installed.

After the BIOS flash you leave 1 stick of RAM, the CPU and GPU installed. That's it. Does it post?

Got it to post by formatting the ssd on another pc, but there is still q-code 02 and the boot led is on. It said that my gpu is not supported by the uefi bios.

Thats right your gpu needs legacy bios if i remeber right.

I cleared the CMOS since my cpu was at 1.4 volts stock, and now it doesn't post anymore. Any suggestions?

Rma the mobo sounds the the cpu power connection is faulty.
