Hey guys. So I have a great i7 computer that people here helped me pick everything out. Again thank you to everyone that helped me. Now its 6 months in and I think I want to go crossfire. I was wondering what people thought about it. First of all here are my specs.

GPU - EVGA 896-P3-1255-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

GPU LINK - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130434

RAM - OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model

Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5” Internal Hard Drive
(I think I installed this upside down, does this matter, its been running like that for about 6 months now)

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Mobo

PSU - Corsair CMPSU-850TX 850W ATX12V 2.2/EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready Crossfire Ready Active PFC Power Supply

CPU - Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor (stock heat sink)

Case - Antec 1200 ATX Full Tower

Was just curious, would it be best to go crossfire, and would it really be worth it. Or would it be better to all in all get a whole new more powerful GPU? Also I know this isnt the place to ask for it, but anyone have suggestions for an update on my heat sink for my cpu, i'm still using stock. Just looking for any suggestions that people would have.
Thanks.

Well thats exactly my question. I was curious if you think it would be best to get a second card and go sli, as that is really no hassle. Or would it be better to get an all in all more powerful card. Just I'm really not sure how OLD the card is and how it ranks to some of the other higher end/priced gpus. To be honest I can't clarify exactly what SLI does, I just know that it will somehow make my graphics even better or smoother.

And one more question I had was can you SLI with different video cards. Or do I have to get the EXACT same. Cause there are a bunch GTX260s. Like for exampled the one I have has 896mb, could I get one with more MB and would it be compatible? I'm really not sure what the point is but I figure its gotta somehow be better. Or should I just stay in my comfort zone and get the same one in case of problems.

I just really want more GPU power. I figure why not I guess? Last question too, will this card be directx11 compatible, thats updated through the drive not the actual hardware right?

There are no directx11 cards out right now. You will be able to play dx11 games on dx10 or 10.1 cards but will not get all the benefits that dx11 will provide. no one really knows what dx11 will be till it is released with hardware support and games. If you are worried about dx11 wait for the next gen cards to be released. If you are nto worried then buy a second gtx 260. you can mix and match gtx 260 but to be safe just get one where the cores and ram match.

Yea I'm just going to get the exact same card so I don't have to worry about that. I've been reading that these can run really hot. Should I worry about that and get some kind of GPU cooler, and recommendations?
