CRT and interference help

I have a Cambridge Soundworks 2.1 system and want to ensure they are far enough away from my new CRT monitor. I had them sitting right next to it and got a little distortion. I moved them to the back of the cabinet and the distortion stopped (it was a strange tinting to the screen. How far should I set the speakers from the monitor as I want to ensure they are far enough away even if there is no distortion visible?

I'd just move them as far away as possible. The further the better.
