im kind of new to the world of CRTs, and i recently bought myself a 17" belinea 10 30 40, which according to a couple of sites has a maximum recommended resolution of 1200*1600 @ 65 Hz. problem is, in order to get it to run at that i need to be using a windows machine with catalyst so i can set it to ignore what the monitor says it can do and manually set the refresh rate. anyone know why this is?

also, catalyst gives me a couple of options for resolutions higher than what this CRT apparently supports, all of which work. it also allows me to set the refresh rate higher than what its apparently capable of at that resolution. i hear that doing this can damage the CRT in the long run, to what extent is this true?

also, sources saying it can run 1200*1600:

also, this CRT is god damn beautiful for gaming on, i hope i never have to game on an LCD again.
