I have a p4v800d-x motherboard, which was running fine with 2x512mb generic ram. However when i attempted to add a crucial 1gb ram stick, windows fails to boot. I recieve no error messages just get the options of safe boot..etc none of which work. Ive tried swapping out the memory, and it seems to be the crucial stick that causes the problem if anyone has any ideas as to how this could be fixed, or if the ram is not worth the trouble you advice would be greatly appreciated.

All sticks are ddr400.

Kind Regards

If the computer won't boot only when you have that DIMM installed, then the logical conclusion would be that it's a faulty stick. However, to rule out the motherboard as well, try the stick on it's own, switch off dual channel, try it in combo with one of the other ones at a time... just rule everything out, it should only take an hour or so.
