Crucial M.2 2280 SSD not detected in boot or windows 10 install

My board is the GIGABYTE GA-X99 Ultra Gaming and is not finding the drive in question. I flashed the bios to the latest version (F5), still no go.

Windows 10 install via USB is also not detecting the drive.

I also tried to update the firmware of the drive via USB, but the installer didn't recognize the drive either.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

No it is not showing up in BIOS

Nope. Ordinary HDD SATA works fine.

Well the M.2 does not have a sata adapter as it's just a chip...here's my ssd so we're on the same page

What on earth this is a M.2 SSD not a SATA SSD, this is supposed to go into the PCIE slot for M.2 SSD's in the mobo not connected using a SATA 3, you are completely off

Just make sure everything fits properly and try out other PCIE slots to see if it works on there.
