Crucial m500 240gb vs Samsung EVO 120gb

Which should i pick? as my desktop SSD. . m500 is at 142$ while evo is at 116$ as of now.

120 GB of Evo should be a lot cheaper than that. However, if that is the case then definitely go with M500 for more storage.

I would usually say go for the samsung(because they are absolute beasts) but here I would say go with the crucial for the extra storage space. the samsung is faster, but that extra 120gb in the crucial would make it worth it to me.

the m500 is a more durable drive using 2bit MLC memory that lasts longer, it is only slightly slower, and the one your looking at has a much higher capacity so i would definitly get the m500

if by desktop ssd you mean your OS drive only, i'd go with the evo. Speed is everything here and 120gb/s is plenty. Hell i use a vertex 4 64gb/s for my desktop OS and i only ever used 40gb/s. I've got all sorts of essential software loaded and of course all my games/movies are elsewhere. I going Samsung. Pity you can't get the pro cause that's even faster.

Hi there. I have exactly the same situation as OP so didnt want to open a new thread. Found crucial m500 deal for 107$. Samsung 840 evo 120gb is 100$. That samsung 840 evo is the lowest price I can get in my country where electronics tend to be pricey compared to other countries plus all consumer products have %18 tax.

Would it be worth going for samsung for extra bit of performance or go with crucial for extra space? I'm leaning towards crucial but still not sure if its worth dropping performance for extra space. If samsung can make a real difference in desktop usage, I will pick that. I'm mainly using my pc for browsing, watching videos and sometimes playing lightweight games generally being WoW or LoL.

The EVO is faster but I would take the extra capacity because both of them are fast enough.
