I'm looking to upgrade my storage on my laptop and was looking at the crucial p5 plus which is gen 4 but my laptop is pcie 3.0 I know the p5 is backwards compatible but is it going to throttle it down to much am I better off saving some money and going for the crucial p3

Sorry laptop is 1 x MEDION DEPUTY P10 CORE I7-10750H 16GB 512GB SSD 15.6 INCH FHD GEFORCE RTX 2060 6GB WINDOWS 10 GAMING LAPTOP

Ok so i spoke to crucial and they said the the p5 running on a PCIe 3.0 slot will only run at 3400/3000 so its not really worth it, so in the end ive gone for the
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 (2280) Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (MMZ-V7S1T0BW ), Black
its more expensive but it reads better than the P3 and runs a bit faster and with it being PCIe 3.0 it should run better (hopefully) lol

$36 difference seems a bit wide for differences that run inside the margin of error and won't be noticeable. The longevity is considerably higher with the 970 but considering you didn't mention it, I don't think that factors into your concern. At that rate, another $23 would have pushed you to the P3 at 2GB...
