I want to purchase a ddr4 8gb Ram for my Laptop. So I used a crucial scanner & this was the result.

I've 4gb ddr4 2666 CL=19 fixed slot non removable Ram installed in my Laptop.
But the crucial scanner is recommending me 8gb ddr4 2400 Cl=17 Ram.

How will these two run in dual channel ? [ My intel i3-10110u Support Flex mode in my ASUS VIVOBOOK 15 X512FA ]

Should I buy 8gb ddr4 2666 CL=19 ram instead ?

Thank you very much. I'll definitely think about it. 16 Gb is a great option too.

But Just in case if I have to buy 8gb,

Should I go for 2400 DDR4 Cl=17 as recommended by scanner or 2666 DDR CL=19 which matches my 4gb Ram configuration ?
If you install the 2400 all your ram will run at the slower speed.
I doubt you will see a diff.

It looks like you can get a 16GB stick at the proper speed for only a few bucks more.

Thanks for the reply. I can understand that but I don't feel like I need that much Ram for normal usage. I was just looking for 8gb ram & its giving me option of 2400 DDR4 Cl=17 when it should be 2666 DDR4 Cl=19. I'm confused because for the 16GB one its recommending me the right configuration but not for 8gb one.

Should I buy 8gb 2666 CL=19 going against the scan result or buy what's recommended ?

Your call.
I'd get the 16GB stick.
It won't hurt anything having 20GB instead of 12GB.
