whats the difference and which is better. I can't find much info on the differences. also any information on the cp9 thermal paste would be greatly appreciated.

H5 Universal = 160W TDP
H5 Ultimate = 180W TDP (slightly better)

The Ultimate's bigger fan should make it better by around 15%

The universal does not block any ram slots so how tall your heat sinks on the memory is don't matter.

The fan is not taller its 25mm compared to 15mm thick.
The thermal paste is just fine I used it on my R1 just to see and it's paste alright, paste makes very little difference the way it's applied maters more than what you use.
