I think you'll probably be able to hit max or close to max on most games. BF3 and Crysis are pretty demanding games though so you might not be able to completely max them out.

Sorry, but no. Not even close. There is no way you will be able to max out Crysis 2 and BF3 with a 6870. Sorry, won't happen. Maybe you will be able to play on all High settings, but you will in no way have playable FPS on Ultra.

Yes I have a 6870. It is an awesome card, but not THAT awesome. I have played both Crysis 2 and BF3, not Mass Effect though. I played at 1920X1080 and was able to play both with all High settings and with AA off. Turning on AA killed it and going up to Ultra definitely killed it.

Unless you are running a 6990 or multi-card setup. I really don't think it is possible to Max out BF3.

SardonicJester, I play Bf3 on a 6870 on ultra with a 6x core AMD @ 3.8, albeit at 1280x1024. Edit after reading your post: You're right, at FullHD it lags a wee bit.

FYI: Mass Effect 3 will run nicely with a 6870, it's not demanding.

In fact, at 1680x1050, the 5870 runs it at a comfortable 42fps

2fast4thetown_down, what is your resolution monitor? It's sub HD, a 6870 would be fine, if it's fullHD, then I would recommend a 7850, or 7870.

The primary issue with your rig is your PSU, what's the model number? If it's newer and 80+ certified it shouldn't be a problem.

it wont max em out but will play em at high. you dont need a 6990 to max em out either the 7970 or gtx 670 will max out both with x2-x4 aa@1080p.
if you can save up the extra £150 $200-$250 i would recommend getting the 670 over any other card for your system. if your psu is up for it. i cant see it not being but you never know...
460w will just about power the 670 but i like a bit of headroom...
