Crysis 3 performance issues on HIS Radeon hd 7870 2gb

So I just recently bought a new HIS radeon 7870 gpu from newegg and was really excited to try it out on crysis 3, however, it performs absolutely terribly, i have to turn everything down to "low" just to get a respectable frame rate. Moreover, my roommate has a xps 7870 and can max out all graphics settings. Ive checked my drivers repeatedly and even dabble in OC but nothing really works. Can anyone explain this or help me get more performance out of my card?

actually im only playing at 1365x720 and he's playing at 1920x1080, and no i wouldn't say he can get all the way up to sixty but its probably in the mid 50's... supposedly his gpu is hypermemory enabled and has access to around 5 gb of memory from his RAM... would that be why?

That's your problem right there. You have to do a complete clean out of all old Nvidia driver's before installing AMD's. It's just driver conflict's.

There is more to it than just hitting uninstall on graphic driver's though, make sure you clean the registry as mentioned above. Nvidia is usually better than AMD when it comes to clean driver uninstall but you never know.

Whilst the driver may fix the issue it may not. The game is having optimisation issues at the moment. If you check the MyCrysis forums you will see many people are suffering erratic FPS. Gtx 670,680 even 690 and 6970/7970 all types of cards, even when playing lowest settings are suffering.

Take me for example:

i5-2500
12GB
GTX 570 1.25GB

average fps = 40.. lots of times dips to 20s with lowest settings and everything.
Others are having similar problems. As i said, optimisation. Should be fixed soon.

Here, take a look... there are some options you can do to increase your FPS if your driver installation doesnt work: http://secure.mycrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=59554

Thanks guys, i'll look into that, but first im going to put my gpu into my roommates rig to hopefully isolate the problem to either my cpu or my graphics card. and also could you give me a little more info on driver sweep? im not sure how to go about doing that.

New patch for PC released today.

Last 2 notes say:

-Significant optimisation to Medium detail settings (PC Only)
-Particle optimisation (PC Only)

Like i said :p It was an optimisation issue xD

My crysis 3 runs really well overall. crossfire X 6970 but for some reason, psycho and some other characters in the game look like the thing.....a mesh of texture mapps and unstrung polygons gone wrong..

does anyone know why?

Sounds like tessellation errors - might be your VLIW4 arch.
