Crysis SP Demo Performance

Anyone playing the demo? How is your performance. It's not looking good so far. :ouch:

Check out the link:

It seems people with an 8800GTX are running 8x6 or 10x7 to be playable, and that's with todays beta drivers. Also one guy with 8800GTX SLI says SLI isn't working for him (better perfoamnce without it).

BTW, Only EA preorders can get the demo today, the rest of us have to wait until tomorrow.

The guy who thought he had 70-80 fps didn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. After installing fraps (his fps was just a guess before) it showed 20 fps.

You know what, I think they talk about that guy with the 70-80 fps here: http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=10869&p=2

Quote: "I'd like to see a fraps screenshot baselerd. Those numbers kinda sound like the other guy who thought he was getting 70-80 fps and then installed fraps to find it was more like 20-30. I really haven't seen anyone post a screenshot above 40 fps on high with any system."

The best claimed performance I have seen so far is the HD2900XT owner. But who knows as some people do guess their framerates instead of using fraps and posting legit fps while playing.

Heheh, I have no idea paul. I used to play counter-strike a lot so I'm pretty sensitive to fps changes. Anyone that can't tell the difference between 20 and 80 probably has never even run a tool that measures it.

If they have it I'm getting it from guru3d.com, they usually have demos at un-capped downloads.

I'm not surprised it brings them to their knees, I'm pretty sure thought it will improve as time goes by, its been said SLI doesn't work that just shows how young these drivers are.

Rest assured, if Crysis can't be played comfortably at decent resolutions on today's top hardware then it would be an even bigger fiasco than Bioshock's DRM problem. I'm sure its just lack of driver support.

Edit: recurring words

Posted this in another thread over on THGames:

Trolling some of the Crysis forums, I found this neat little thread about the new single player demo:

http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread.jspa?threadID=300093&start=0&tstart=0

Just a little paraphrase from one of the posts there:

More info, with my QX6850 + 8800 Ultra + 2Gb DDR2 I get:

5fps (1600*1200, 16aa, Very High settings)
8fps (1600*1200, 4aa, Very High settings)
12fps (1600*1200, 4aa, High settings)
25fps (1280*1024, 8aa, Medium settings)

Nvidia Driver version: 163.69

If this is representitive, I think "Houston, we have a serious problem here".

Nvidia released new beta drivers just for Crysis lol. 169.01, I installed them, waiting to try them tommorrow.

And anyone who can not tell 20fps from 80fps needs to go the eye doctor for blindness. 20fps is not playable imo. 60fps is where I like to keep it.

1.8 GBs. Yeah, I'll be downloading that at work.

That one dude in the 3rd pic looks like he is taking a dump.

Any different results regarding XP vs Vista?

People that pre-ordered it from the EA store or other means.. public at large, tomorrow.

OYE-VEY !!! :ouch:

Well those are probably the same people that keep posting in this forum that the human eye can only see 16-24 fps. :pt1cable: They also haven't seen an optometrist since they've been born, and think that everyone else see the world through a hazy foggy tunnel.

Now I'm just worried about the HD2600, so if the GTX/XT are both runnning in the 20s fps @ 800x600, I guess it's 5fps @ 640x480 for me.

Well it's only too look at the pretty effects and then it's on to DX9 and XP. :hello:

BTW, too bad I don't have access to it, I love downloading demos at work. The UT3 demo took me less than an hour, and the Quakewars demo took me almost the same time at over twice the size.
That's the nice thing about riding the CO, at 7-10MB/s it's never ME that's causing the slow down after everyone has gone home, if anything I'm being held back by the onboard T100 ethernet. :sol:

Coming down at 300-350 on a private tracker; 16 min. to go.
I'd be willing to upgrade to make this game work well but with reports of sli not working on the demo where to go from an 8800gtx?
