Crysis weird sounds while playing

I've just tried my new HD5850 with this game. And while I'm playing, it sometimes starts making distorted sounds. I think it is in very demanding graphics places, so I tried lowering details, but it doesn't change anything.
I'm running an E5200 @3.6. So, could it be a bottleneck problem, or some settings that I've to change?
Thanks you

Yeah me too. There has been a lot of debate about the sound corruption in the original Crysis - some say it's onboard audio issues, some say it's CPU-related, but it doesn't change the fact that it only crops up on certain systems. One of those Crysis glitches you have to learn to live with, I guess!

I know, right? The tank level is the worst. I wonder if it's tied to ballistics - I always get an audio pop when I hit someone with a bullet. Been playing so long I barely notice it anymore. :pt1cable:

Yes, I think you are right, it is something related to the weapons, because in my case it is the same as yours. Thanks for your response :)

Sorry I don't have a solution - it might be our relatively low-end dual-core CPUs, or it might be our DDR2-800. I have no idea why those would cause problems though, especially with audio.

Crysis Warhead doesn't have that problem, and it's a darn good game too.

Oh so I will play warhead if I have the opportunity. Because it's the 2nd time I finish Crysis, so now I'm playing L.A. Noire. :D

its down to the audio settings. your trying to run it with 7.1 surround when it needs to be on 5.1 or 2.1 depending on your headset/speaker setup... even if you have 7.1 surround speakers you will get sound distortion as it trys to send sound to the wrong speakers... so switch the default speaker setup to a lower setting... also switch from 44khz down to 42khz (i think, well its the next 1 down regardless) if you can.

Yeah, I've tried all that - I've got onboard 5.1 audio, but I use a 2.1 setup. Tried changing all settings from Very High on down to Low, and it still pops and crackles with ballistics and explosions. Also tried changing the speaker settings in-game using commands for headphone setup, surround, stereo, mono. There seems to be less when running the game in DX9, but they're still there. I gave up last fall.
