CS:GO making graphics card REALLY HOT!

I have a pretty good computer with pretty good specs but after playing it for about an hour, my graphics card seems to get insanely hot like up to 88 degrees Celsius

I average about 300 fps maxed out.

Specs
- i7-4790k
- AMD Radeon R9 290
- Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3
- Standard HDD

PLEASE HELP ME LOWER MY TEMP OR TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG!!

88 Degrees FAHRENHEIT or CELSIUS? 88f/88c?

Let me just clarify, are you 100% sure it was Fahrenheit?
If it was, that is around 33C, which an astounding temperature for that card. (AMD 290, or aftermarket?)

If that is 88C, that is fairly high and should be fixed.
There are several options to lower temps, the two easiest being increased fan speeds (MSI afterburner), or enable Vsync. You are producing so many extra frames that arent needed, you can lighten the load on the GPU.

88 Fahrenheit is about 33 Celsius which is low even for idle temp so I am guess you mean 88c which is pretty warm nothing too dangerous though, can you bump up your fan speed?

88F is pretty low, but i`m assuming you meant to say 88C
A solution to your problem though would be to download the latest AMD gpu drivers and use the new framerate target control feature to set your fps to something lower.
By doing that it will make your GPU run much cooler

What make of R9 290 is it.....EVGA, MSI, Asus, Gigabyte etc.

alright yes sorry i meant to say Celsius. But do you know if there is a way to lower fps in that game to lower the temps?

You can type in console fps_max *number* and it will limit the frames.
What are your fan speeds?

GPU Fan- 1350 RPM
Fan1- 2487 RPM
Fan2- 1500 RPM

What %speed on the 290 (MSI afterburner)? Also what brand?

about 60%. yes using afterburner, and amd

Or is it aftermarket, such as MSI, ASUS, or Sapphire?

Turn those speeds up to 80% and see how it works.

I set my max fps to 225 instead of 300 and raised the fan speed slightly, and now temps do not go above 70 degrees Celsius
